About the event
Ever wished you could spend a whole day just singing, acting, creating, and performing? NOW YOU CAN!
Join theatre practitioners Lesley McClymont and Paul Tripp for a fun, friendly, and inspiring day designed for amateur performers. Whether you've been performing for years, haven't stepped onto a stage in a while, or just fancy giving it a go, this is your chance to step into the room, have fun, and discover what you can do.
No auditions. No exams. No pressure to be perfect. Just a room full of people who love musical theatre.
WHO IT'S FOR
Anyone who loves musical theatre.
You don't need to be a professional performer.
You don't need to have years of experience.
And you certainly don't need to be the loudest singer in the room.
You simply need to be curious, enthusiastic and willing to have a go.
Come on your own, bring a friend, or come as part of your amateur theatre group.
WHAT WE'LL DO
We'll take prepared musical-theatre material and explore it from both a vocal and acting perspective. You'll have the opportunity to:

DEVELOP YOUR VOCAL PERFORMANCE
LOOK AT CASTING AND HOW TO APPROACH MATERIAL
WORK AS PART OF AN ENSEMBLE
DISCOVER HOW ACTING CHOICES CAN TRANSFORM A SONG
BE DIRECTED AND COACHED BY EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONERS
CREATE SOMETHING TOGETHER WITH THE GROUP
FINISH THE DAY BY PERFORMING WHAT YOU'VE CREATED
Our ensemble number will be from a well-known musical with excellent ensemble singing and acting opportunities, bringing everything together in a final filmed performance as a memento of the day.

Coffee, biscuits and a chance to meet everyone.
10.45 am | WELCOME TO THE DAY
Meet your tutors and find out what's in store.
11.00 am | SINGING & CASTING
Work on prepared material, exploring vocal delivery, performance and casting.
12.00 am | 15-MIN BREAK
12.15 am | ACTING & CHARACTER
Explore character, intention and storytelling, and discover how acting can bring musical-theatre material to life.
1.15 pm | LUNCH
Bring your own lunch and take a well-earned break.
2.15 pm | CREATING THE ENSEMBLE
Bring the singing and acting together as we direct, create and rehearse our ensemble number.
3.15 pm | BREAK
3.45 pm | SHOWTIME!
Perform the work we've created together.
4.15 pm | REVIEW & ROUND-UP
A chance to reflect on the day, celebrate what we've achieved and take away some new ideas and inspiration.
